In the centre of historic Bideford, next to the town centre, the historical, Grade II listed Tantons Hotels sits on the riverfront, opposite the ancient stone bridge.

Tantons is a modern hotel that has kept its 18th-century features and charms, including oak beams and bay sash windows. Free Wi-Fi is available in Reception.

As Tantons is on the waterfront, many of the en suite bedrooms have fantastic estuary views.

The hotel has a cosy and comfortable bar, and a newly refurbished restaurant that offers many tasty dishes made with mostly fresh, locally sourced produce.

Tanton's Hotel is well located for exploring the area's coastline, moorland and hills.

There is no car park, but Tanton's offers free parking adjacent to the hotel between 16:00 and 09:00.

Travel information
By Air:
The hotel is approximately 40 miles (65 km) from Exeter International Airport. The journey from the airport to the hotel should take about 45 minutes by car.

By Car (from the M5 motorway):
- Leave the M5 motorway at junction 27 and follow the A361/A39 link road west to Bideford for 46 miles (75 km).
- After you have crossed the Torridge River via a high-arched concrete bridge, turn left at the next roundabout and follow the road into Bideford for about 1 mile (1.6 km) until you find yourself driving along the quayside.
- At the approach to the old stone bridge, drive straight across the mini-roundabout and you will find Tantons Hotel just 20 metres further on, on the right-hand side.

By Train:
The nearest train station is Barnstaple, which is approximately 9 miles (15 km) from the hotel. Taxis are readily available from just outside the station or alternatively you can take the bus.

By Bus:
The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the bus station, which offers good connections to the region’s major bus routes.
