Wizards Thatch forms part of the historic, 400-year-old Summerhill Cottages. The cottages lie at the foot of The Edge, a reputed mystical sandstone outcrop, which stands guard over the Cheshire Plain at Alderley Edge. It takes its name from a local legend involving a wizard, King Arthur, his knights and a farmer.
Travel information
By Car:
- Take the M6.
- Exit at junction 19.
- Join the A556 towards Knutsford.
- After 2 miles, turn left onto the A537 signposted to Knutsford.
- From Knutsford, take the B5085 through Mobberley to Alderley Edge.
- Within Alderley Edge, take the B5087 signposted Macclesfield.
- Wizards Thatch is 100 yards on the left at Summerhill Cottages.
The cottage is just 10 minutes from Manchester Airport and within minutes of the M6 and M56.
Important information
Wizards Thatch does accept babies up to the age of 1 and children older than 8 years of age. Travelcots for babies are not provided directly by Wizards Thatch, so guests should bring their own.
Please note that due to the age and nature of the property there are uneven floors, narrow stairs and some very low beams, especially in the bathroom. Door heights are also low. Due to the huge amount of old timbers, no candles are permitted.
